Fall To Pieces

Mixing prints has always been such a favourite thing of mine to do…there's just something about trying to combine two completely different prints/pattern and creating an interesting outfit.

I kept my hair simple and messy, like I usually do as the "bed head" look always seems like the easiest go-to styling.

Crosswalk Top- Nasty Gal
Skirt- Forever 21
Shoes- Jeffrey Campbell

At the very beginning of the Summer, I remember styling this aztec inspired mini skirt in a post back when I lived in the city (SEE HERE). The styling was pretty different back then, as there was a much more polished feminine quality about how I had chose to pair things. However, this time around I wanted to the styling to be a little less feminine and slightly possessive so I paired the skirt with more darker elements and less accessories.
The top I'm wearing is one I got from Nasty Gal and didn't quite think I'd actually like it or even wear it  but it seemed fitting for this look as the surprising element at the back adds for a bit of un expectance with these ginormous buckles crisscrossing each other. The look itself is great for Summer and with the addition of the black kimono it could also serve as a great transitional look from Summer to Fall, with little tweaks here and there. Summer is almost over and I'm really sad that I'll have to go back to long hours working in the studio plus no more super sunny weather… oh well that's just the game of life. Somewhere Between Psychotic and Iconic

Blouse- Uniqlo (similar)
Black and White Floral Skirt- Forever 21
Shoes- Oxfords
Body Chain- Similar
Rings- Vintage

I've been taking a much need break from being in front of camera, just to figure out somethings regarding my career, school and lifestyle. However, I thought it was about time I posted this look I wore about three weeks ago before going to the Brooklyn flea market on Saturday afternoon. If you never knew this about me before, I'll be the first to tell you that I love vintage shopping whether it be at a flea market or from thrift store. Just the idea of purchasing an item that has become exclusive and unique to its buyer is such an awesome concept to me…I'll try to snap a collection of pictures whenever I get go to thrifting again.

I wore a black button up collared blouse that I snatched from Uniqlo (the cotton is to die for soft!), what's strange is that I almost never shop for anything in Uniqlo mainly because it's not quite my aesthetic. However, I went in there with a friend and came out with this blouse. As per usual, I tucked the blouse into a floral mini skirt, for a bit of a preppy attire. Since the black of the blouse was a tad bit flat photographic wise, I chose to wear my favorite body chain for depth and more interest in what could easily be a plain outfit.

Scrutiny

Fresh, classic summer vibing for today's blog post.

Shorts- Forever 21
Oversized Vest- H&M
Shoes- Scully Platforms by Jeffrey Campbell
Jewelry- All from Jamaica

All Summer long, I've been living in loose fitting lightweight shorts..these just make things a lot easier in terms of walking around in the scorching sun and they are perfect for numerous occasions.
These ones that I'm wearing, I scored at Forever 21…they have this nice bohemian aesthetic to them that I really love and I knew I had to get it once I saw it. It's really one of those pieces that I can keep in my closet for other Summer seasons and it'll still be fresh and timeless.

I really wanted this look to be clean and slightly simplistic so I paired the shorts with a basic cropped tank top and threw on this awesome oversized vest over the everything to tie the look together. I'm literally obsessed with this vest, I call it the "the lab vest" hahaha but it's just clean, refreshing and a classic style that can be style with so many things in my closet right now! Of course, I somehow had to incorporate my platforms into this look…I really haven't been wearing a lot of heals all Summer because I'm always on my feet running around for my internship and on weekends I rather opted for a nice pair of short heeled boots to not put any pressure on my ankles. This day ways an exception because I was heading out to brunch at this really nice place in DUMBO, brooklyn and I thought why not dress up and be a little fancy yet simplistic?!

Anywhos, I hope you liked this look for today and don't forget to leave your thoughts in the comments below, I read ever single one of them and I'm really thankfully for those who come here on my blog to take time and read I appreciate it!

Space Between The Crave

One of the rare moments when I suddenly decide to wear lots of colours.

Romper- Necessary Clothing
Boots- UNIF
Necklace- Vintage

Clusters of florals, something new that I've never quite worn before or have ever really been too fond of. This romper was one of those life saving pieces in my closet...on the day I wore this look,  the scorching sun in NY seemed unbearable and because of the sheer, super lightweight qualities of this romper I was able to frolic around without melting to my death.

Sometimes I like to allow myself to wear something out of the blue that I usually wouldn't and surprizingly for this look, I loved how this look came out. I decided to add a touch of turquoise jewelry to compliment the feminine qualities of the romper and opted for chunky boots for a more casual daytime look.

Fly Like A Bird, Take To The Sky

Crochet Top- Similar
Silk Shorts- Necessary Clothing

The good thing about Summer is that I can wear very light layers and still feel at a normal temperature on a super hot day. This is a look I wore earlier on this week right before heading on into the city for a photoshoot. I really was aiming for comfort, loose layers and a feminine approach to Spring/Summer season. I know I've been posting a lot of lace pieces lately on the blog, but I honestly cant quite help myself...and I think all Summer long I'll be sporting a lot of lace. However, in this post I'm wearing this beautiful hand crochet top that I scored while walking pass Canal street here in New York. It caught me by surprize because I've never bought anything in Canal street because a lot of what's down there are fake products which I as a designer will never support. But in this instants, I saw a lot of crochet pieces in this one store and it caught my attention as far as me ended up buying it.
I could really see myself pairing this top with many things this summer but for this look, I went for a bit of a casual boho chic where I tucked in the top into this beautiful silk shorts and my oxfords which I haven't been wearing for awhile. I also switched things up a bit by wearing my currently favourite bag that can literally be worn with anything...its perfection.

Island In The Sun

Top- Forever 21
Skirt- H&M
Shoes- UNIF Lost Sole Boots (here)
Hazel Eye Necklace- Glow Worm Shop

I'm loving every moment of this vacation back home in Jamaica...I know I'll definitely be sad when I have to go back to the extremely cold weather conditions back in New York. On this particular day it was literally super windy and sunny at the same time...typical me, wore a skirt that few up with the wind at every chance possible so that explains why for the first time I cracked a huge smile because I had such a hard time keeping my skirt from flying up for this shoot. I've literally been living in mini skirts and dresses while being here because everyday here is like a melting pot so staple pieces such as skirts, tees, dresses and shorts are a must have when it comes to dressing here in Jamaica. I wore a tie dyed loose top tucked into this skirt for a perfect day of lounging around a beach club that had such an amazing view of the horizon.
I know this might seem a bit weird, but I wore my UNIF lost sole boots with white white socks...because for some reason I couldn't resist wearing it with this outfit. I haven't been wearing too many layers since being here because in all honesty if I could wear a swimsuit everyday...I would. Anyways, I'm off to shop for some local jewelry and then meet up with some friends afterwards.
