Mind Mischief

Black and White Scarf- Made by me
Coat- Nasty Gal
Concho Hat- Forever 21
Scully Platform- Jeffrey Campbell

On a cozy day, I like to layer  strategically that will allow me to go 'pantless' but still keep as warm as possible. Good thing the day I actually wore this look was warm enough for me to just wear stockings to be paired with my oversized sweater dress and a nice heavy wool coat from Nasty Gal.
To spark a little interest and as an additional texture, I chose to where this pretty cool black and white scarf that I made in class. The scarf is designed like a sort of shawl so it goes over the head and sits on the shoulders, which makes it easy to pull over and pair with any outift. It works more like an interest piece rather than actually keeping you warm but I think of it as a fun accessory piece.

I hope you all had an awesome thanksgiving weekend, I definitely did as I went to Atlanta to visit family and then partake in a little shopping spree but it was all fun and I'm now back in NY, ready to take one the last week of classes.

Sleepless Gliding

Mixing different textures a lot this Fall.

Black & White Top- H&M
Mulder Platform - Jeffrey Campbell
Lace Cardigan- Forever 21

Since it's so cold in NY during the Fall/Winter, it's important to me to get creative if I'm going to be wearing a thousand layers a day. Hence, on any given day...you'll find me mixing and matching completely different textures as my layers and this way I don't get bored of wearing the same ol' look over and over again.
For this post, I went a tad bit crazy and mixed both prints and textures for a fun monochromatic look. The top I'm wearing is one that I absolutely adore because of the cracked effect within the print that slightly reminds me of the Balenciaga AW 13 collection. I'm not sure why I did but, I made the choice of pairing the top with black and white plaid pants which I thought at first would have been too much but experimenting to me is always a good thing, because now I absolutely love the two together.

To finish off the look I threw on my floor length lace cardigan as an addition to introduce a different texture and of course, I had to break in my oversized neoprene jacket that I purchased at the beginning of the Summer and was dying for it to be  old enough so I could start wearing it (ps. I miss the Summer now). Let me know in the comments below what you think of this look!

Forget About Everything & Runway

I totally decided last minute to change my mind and post this look from a shoot I did about a month ago. I was a little hesitant in posting, mainly because there wasn't much to the overall look and the pictures were shot at a completely spontaneous moment as a slight experimental shoot.

Around 5 hours before class, my friend and I were chilling on the rooftop of my apartment and we thought it would be kind of cool to just fool around with the lighting, angles and just experimenting overall with the camera. Hence, these were the photos that resulted of that. Just me playing around..and the usual indecisiveness when it comes to deciding what to do with my hair especially since it was pretty hot when this look was shot.

I was heading into the city for my afternoon class so, a simple button up white blouse with baggy trousers was my quick go-to instinct. It's simple and easy for times when it comes to wanting to "dress down". I went slightly minimalistic when it came on to accessorizing by just where silver accents to compliment to black and white "uniform" attire. I hope you all have a great start to the week and thanks for visiting!

Fall To Pieces

Mixing prints has always been such a favourite thing of mine to do…there's just something about trying to combine two completely different prints/pattern and creating an interesting outfit.

I kept my hair simple and messy, like I usually do as the "bed head" look always seems like the easiest go-to styling.

Crosswalk Top- Nasty Gal
Skirt- Forever 21
Shoes- Jeffrey Campbell

At the very beginning of the Summer, I remember styling this aztec inspired mini skirt in a post back when I lived in the city (SEE HERE). The styling was pretty different back then, as there was a much more polished feminine quality about how I had chose to pair things. However, this time around I wanted to the styling to be a little less feminine and slightly possessive so I paired the skirt with more darker elements and less accessories.
The top I'm wearing is one I got from Nasty Gal and didn't quite think I'd actually like it or even wear it  but it seemed fitting for this look as the surprising element at the back adds for a bit of un expectance with these ginormous buckles crisscrossing each other. The look itself is great for Summer and with the addition of the black kimono it could also serve as a great transitional look from Summer to Fall, with little tweaks here and there. Summer is almost over and I'm really sad that I'll have to go back to long hours working in the studio plus no more super sunny weather… oh well that's just the game of life. Fannel Chronicle

Sometime last week I had such a great time with my niece who came to visit me for a week. I tried to take her around as much places as I could here in New York but sadly there wasn't quite much here for a 14 year old to do. Either way, I took her central park for a relaxing day which was where I decided to snap this look.

I literally stepped out of my apartment unknowingly matching in forest green and navy blue…it was only until I was heading back home on the train that I really recognized that I was matching completely with my outfit and accessories .

One of my latest thrift finds is this really cool vintage sterling silver ring.

I'm extremely in love with this bag that I bought at a cute little boutique in Soho, I'm not quite sure how I got so lucky to even find this boutique but I'm just really glad because ever since, I now take this mini backpack almost everywhere with me if I can. The design is so sleek and unique, plus I absolutely love the combination of gold details with the navy blue.

Fannel Top- Forever 21
Boots- Jeffrey Campbell Coltrane

It was a typical hot Summer day, and all I really wanted to wear was something cool and almost a bit effortless. I couldn't quite tell the last time that I wore a fanned top but somehow I randomly decided that this day would be the day. This post reminds me a little bit more of my grunge side which I use to sport a whole lot when I started this blog almost two years ago….with this perfect choker and chunky boots. I'd actually like to think of it as more of a more refined approach to the grunge style because everything seems a little too much on the perfect side and yes, I was wearing shorts underneath.
Overall, I like wearing these kinds of looks where it's not too uptight and everything is simply easy breezy. I am currently cooking up some new looks, so that I can go back to posting a lot more during the weeks…but until then I hope you enjoyed this post.
