Love Me Lights Out

Velvet Crop Top- Similar
Skirt- H&M
Shoes- Oxford

Wow, feels like forever since I posted anything but as I mentioned in my last post, I've been visiting back home in sunny Jamaica for a month so I really haven't had much time to post the looks I've been wearing. First off let me say Happy New Year!! hope you all had a lovely time and I can't wait to see what the new year has in store...2013 went so fast whew! Anyways, if you've been keeping up with my post on Instagram (@marfarlane) you'll see I've been spending most of my time by the beach, lounging around somewhere outside and spending time with family and friends. I'm happiest when I'm home surrounded by family so it's feels really good to be home.
During this vacation, I've been wearing a lot of skirts and shorts for the warm weather and my flat oxford shoes have been my main go-to shoes since being here. For this look I wore a cropped blue velvet top with one of my favourite pieces..this black and white skirt covered in eyes. It's a casual look I put together to hang walk around the area a bit and chill with my sister. I'm by to regular posting now so I have lots more looks coming up this week so stay tuned for that.

Chain Reaction

Evil Barbie Cropped Top- Dolls Kill
UNIF Grail Platforms- Dolls Kill
Braided Fringe Cardigan- Vintage

Black and white with silver accents, has practically become my uniform these past weeks. I'm not quite sure if you all are exhausted of seeing me in this combination but it's quite obvious I'm not getting over it any time soon hahaha... I just love it! I wore my evil barbie crop tee and overlayed it with a tight fitting high neck crop top to give it a different look because I didn't want to seem to repetitive with wearing just a plain tee. I paired this with my distressed mesh maxi skirt to give to more hardcore rocker appeal, with sheer stockings and knee high socks to give it more depth to the look...plus it was cold so that helped a little. Of course this look wouldn't be complete with the help of my platform babies which definitely gave it the edgy look that I was going for. It's almost the weekend and I couldn't be happier...this weekend was completely exhausting for me so I need to weekend to arrive so I can blow off some steam

Crystalized

Cropped Top- New Look
Black and White Varsity Jacket- Forever 21
Loose Fitting Trousers- Zara

About a week ago, I wore this slouchy/ semi casual outfit to school and somehow I forgot to share it here on my blog. I first have to say that I was never really a big fan of varsity jackets at all...I thought they were too much of a trend that I didn't want to fall victim of so, I tried my best to stay away from it. However, about a month ago a stumbled upon this black and white varsity jacket with the letter 'M' in caps sewn onto it. Naturally, I'm going to gravitate to it because my name starts with M and how much more cheesy could I have gone than wearing something with my initials plastered on it hahaha. Oh well, I couldn't help myself, so ended up getting the jacket and I really don't regret it one bit now because it has come in handy so many ways. The first look I wore it with was actually the one in this post...I paired it with  one of my favourite crop tops that you probably recognize, with all the egyptian symbols, and went with a very slouchy look for a change. I bought these pants at Zara, not knowing that I'd end up liking it so much but, I have to say they are extremely comfortable and well made. It have a really cool pleated detail at the front and I love the fact that it's a little baggy because it helps to balance out the fact that I'm wearing a more tight fitting cropped top. Aside from the fact it's a black and white look, I love that sort of downtown girl vibe that this look possesses.

Trapped In Squares

High Neck Black Crop Top- American Apparel
Geometric Long Sleeved Blouse- Forever 21
Shorts- Forever 21
Shoes- T.U.K Creepers (Journeys)

I've been wanting to share this look for the longest time here on the blog, but every time I decide to...I can't find it anywhere in my archives. I know its summer and perhaps wearing faux leather isn't ideal for some people but for me, I say as long as your comfortable just go with it. I really love this faux leather metallic light green shorts that I've been wearing a lot with different combinations. There is just something interesting about the color and I love how to pops against the darkness of my top. As I said before on a post earlier, I use to love layering a lot and I've recently started to layering a bit more now but in a totally different way than I use to. I've been pairing a lot of long sleeved sheer tops and leaving it open to show the blouse underneath. I choose to wear a blouse underneath that isn't going to make me burn in heat and the top on wear over it is usually sheer so it eliminates heat especially since it's now  Summer time.
