Blu

Weekends spent strolling around in Williamsburg, Brooklyn calls for the perfect blend between a simplistic hipster and a sporty vibe.

Top- Forever 21
Vest- Nasty Gal
Hat-Zara
Bracelet- Vintage

As I've mentioned a few times before here on the blog, my favourite place to hang out on the weekends during my free time is in Williamsburg. Mainly because the vibe there is so chill and there's always a small interesting new spots to explore. On days like these, I personally like to dress as comfortable as possible…which means, the perfect pair of oxfords and clothing pieces that are slightly loose fitting but gives enough room for comfort while still being clean and polished.

I chose to wear this vintage inspired lace top that pretty much looked like was specifically dyed to have this very rustic colour to it. However, that's what I love so much about it plus the addition of the lace gives it such a great detailed touch. I could have thought of so many ways to style this top but, I chose to pair it with an almost plaid abstract looking short and this awesome baby blue vest. I'm so in love with the "biker" quality of this vest, that it has already become a staple piece in my closest for the Fall and could definitely be styled is so many different ways.

I really wanted to tie in the burgundy color of my oxfords into this look hence, I chose to wear this panama hat that I've neglected for so many month. I think it made for a great addition to the look because of the ribbon colours that were wrapped in the silver chain…yea yea I know that seems like a very small detail however, I feel like sometimes its the small details that can certainly help make or break an overall look.

Friction

Fall is here! and the days are starting to get much cooler…I'm currently in the process of packing out all my fall/winter wear yet, I'm so sad the Summer had to end. Featuring this simple go-to look for one of my days when I want to wear something easy.

Knit Sweater- Lumiere from Necessary Clothing
Pants- Zara
Boots- Zara

I absolutely love days like these where I can throw on a nice comfy oversized sweater, black skinnies and a good pair of boots…I live for these very urban/bohemian aesthetics. I think I previously mentioned that I've been having a slight obsession with wearing different shades of grey so, the more this obsession grows, the more I find new ways of styling and working my way around it so that the look doesn't become overly repetitive. For this look I wore a lot of neutral tones so with a slight pop of navy in the boots and green in my jewelry, I was able to come up with a look that was well balanced.

I'm excited to post a lot of my upcoming Fall looks because I have so many ideas in mind plus a lot of new pieces piled up in my wardrobe thats dying to be worn haha.

Parallel Sustainance Of Hurt

My typically casual weekend look consists of: a panama hat, loose top, statement jewelry, whatever bottom seems comfortable at the time and comfy/cute shoes.

Top- Forever 21
Pants- Zara
Shoes- Miista Ivy from Solestruck
Grey Panama Hat- Sole Society
Necklace- Vintage

It's Friday and I couldn't be any more happier that the weekend is here for me to relax, have some fun and have regrets the morning after.
You'll rarely ever find me wearing denim pants or tight legged pants overall but, occasionally out of nowhere i'll throw on a good pair of pants and hit the road especially if it's a more casual day out. Funny enough, the pants I'm wearing in this look are these army green ones that I've been wearing a whole lot since I bought them at Zara…they're really comfortable and can easily be paired with many things. I stuck to my comfort zone of wearing a black baby doll top with my huge vintage necklace that  I've literally had for years (4 years) but never actually worn them out until now.

With the perfect pair of boots and one of my favourite hats, my look was complete and ready to take on a fun filled day in Brooklyn. I actually went to a free concert after snapping these photos…it was kind of lame but I guest you get what you pay for..in my case, I paid nothing hahaha. I hope you all have a great weekend!

Search & Destroy (Style Alien x 9th & Elm)

"Handmade and Independent Fashion Designers"- 9thelm.com

The beauty about Brooklyn, is that you can find a great photography composition sitting right there waiting for you at any giving time. While waking around Williamsburg, Brooklyn one Saturday, I stumbled upon a stranded car that recently exploded. The imagine was so good that many photographers stopped by to snap a shot of it whilst I on the other hand, saw it as an opportunity to shoot this collaboration post with the online store 9th Elm.

"Free Spirit Top"- 9th & Elm
Pants- Zara
Hat- Tilly's
Necklace- Vintage

If I'd have to describe this look, it would be a merge between tom boyish girl and a bohemian lover. Every now and then, I like to put on a good pair of pants even during the Summer and these pair are my favorite that I scooped up during Zara's mid year sale that they have going on right now. They could almost pass for harlem pants but still makes for that pants that's perfect for almost any occasion depending on how its styled.

I decided that I'd pair it this time around with this awesome  sunflower crochet top that I received a few weeks ago from 9th & Elm…they're perfect! I've literally been obsessing over creams, white, lace and crochet all Summer so it may come as no surprise that I absolutely love this top. To give some contrast to the cream of the top, I added my brown panama hat which complimented the look pretty well and also shield me from the scorching sun of that Saturday.
Check out 9th & Elms for yourself, they have such a wide variety of things all at an affordable price. Plus, whats so unique about them is that most of what they sell are handmade products from independent designers! how awesome is that.
Hope you had a lovely start to your week, I have lots coming up for this week :)

Bullet Train

Skirt- Zara
Bag- Nasty Gal

Just giving a quick update of a look I wore a few weeks ago before I got lost in Brooklyn. I love wearing these black and white combinations because they are always just a breath of fresh air and timeless. The skirt is one that I've worn numerous times and is the perfect mix and match separate. In this instants, I paired the skirt with a long sleeved organza top which has these cut out florals appliquéd on top....it's a pretty cool top for both a casual or a more dressed up attire.
Right now I'm currently back home in Jamaica for a few weeks (super last minute). It's always feels good to be back home and relax by the beach. I still have lots of looks that I took in NY but to keep updated on what I'm wearing here in Jamaica, you can follow me on instagram @marfarlane
