Shuffled Boundaries

I'm so happy the weather in New York has gotten cool enough for me to wear my biker jackets again. Oh, how I've missed them.

Biker Jackets- Vintage

Growing up in the Caribbean, I was always so restricted to dressing for one season since it was always so hot there, ps: I didn't mind. However, I love that with the constant change of seasons in NY I'm able to switch around my closet twice a year and for me,variety is the spice of life.
It has been literally extremely hectic with school assignments which is why I have been slowly changing out my summer items into fall/winter essentials to tackle New York's annoyingly irresolute weather.

For this look, I wanted to channel my usual go-to move of wearing black and white mainly because I felt super lazy to tie together a color palette that could fit the present mood I was in…plus, I couldn't quite resist wearing this cute little gradient number. Though I didn't get an actual shot of it, I layered this mini dress with a white cap sleeved sweater top, both for warmth and to add a bit of depth to the look.

I'm pretty excited to see what kind of looks this season will pull out of me, since I can get a lot more creative with layering.

These Sidewalks Liquid And Then Stone

Motel Mindy Crop Top- Motel
Flared Skirt- Similar
Ankle Boots- Zara

Spring is finally in the air here in New York and I don't think anyone is as happy as I am! I can finally get to wear cute little dresses and skirts and waltz around the city without extra amounts of layers. Since  I last posted, I've been a lot less busy than I was before so I'm diving back into blogging daily (I've missed it so much).
To kick off the Spring season, I've decided to wear a lot more lighter colours mixed with small amounts of black...recently, my main go to has been white combinations because I love how it screams spring and it exhumes such a fresh vibe to anyones closet. For this look, I'm wearing a graphic crop top that I scored a few weeks ago when Motel  was having a huge sale. It's perfect for Spring and I could definitely see myself pairing it with lots of things for this season so I'll be sure to share that here with you. I decided to just keep it clean and simple by pairing the top with a basic white skirt so that I could keep all the attention to the top. The skirt in itself is a bit cutesy I don't mind that at all.
Accessorizing is always so much fun and for this look I went with very dainty looking pieces specifically this spiral ring with a beautiful white stone inside (got it from a flea market).
During the time I took off from blogging, I was still shooting looks so I can't wait to share them with you later on this week and remember if you need real time updates you can follow me on instagram @marfarlane .

"Pursuit Of Happiness" (The Style Alien x Motel)

Lia Skater Dress - Motel
Cardigan - Forever 21
Pants - Zara
Oil Slick Hyatt Boots - Jeffrey Campbell
Head Band - DIY

So happy to finally share this post in collaboration with the ever so awesome "Motel". If you're ever looking for that perfect dress for any occasion...they're definitely the site to check out, plus they sell other really cool piece so make sure to check them out. For this look, I wore their "Lia Skater Dress" in the purple/ magenta colour. In all honesty, I usually wouldn't be caught dead wearing such a brightly coloured dress and it still scares me a little seeing me in this very girly color however, I decided to rock with it and transform it into my own personal aesthetic. I layered black elements  of a perforated looking cardigan and a rockerish jacket with faux leather sleeve...this gave the look a little less girly vibe with a more edgy appeal. For the purpose of having fun, I wore this hand band I made about a year ago and thought it would make a nice clever touch with the styling of the overall look. I had so much fun shooting this look so that explains the endless scrolling of pictures in the post.
Anyways, it's a snowy day here in New York and I dread the fact that I have to go to classes in this weather...times like these I wish I was back home in Jamaica.
