Mr. Brightside

Cold enough for a coat but warm enough for a skirt. Typical New York weather.

Sweater- H&M
Wool Skirt- Necessary Clothing
Coat- Zara
Boots- UNIF

I have a slight obsession with this green sweater that I can't quite explain, but for some reason I've been wearing it extremely often since the Fall/Winter season begun. I was kind of happy I got the chance to pair it with this flared wool mini skirt because I've been so stuck on wearing pants almost everyday due to the freezing weather.
This look is typically one I'd wear for a day of classes or just a casual day around this city. One downfall to wearing a skirt on a windy day is probably the obvious Marilyn Monroe moments but I managed to not flash anyone that day so I guess it was a success.
The semester is almost over for me and I'm literally the happiest person ever, because I get to go back to Jamaica for the Christmas and will finally get some warmth.

Yesterday's Strength

Sweater- Zara
Pants- Zara
Shoes- Scully by Jeffrey Campbell
Jacket- Forever 21
Jewelry- purchased in Jamaica

I use can't seem to get over my go-to colour palette, black and grey. I'm never usually the person to be caught dead wearing pants often...typically because I prefer wearing dresses and skirts. However, for this Winter, all I want to do is wear pants and call it a day because of how cold it is. I picked up these pair of riding pants from Zara about a day after cam back to New York and I can honestly say that it's one of my most practical and best buy of the new year thus far. It's such a great fit and goes well with pretty much anything I pair it with. For this look, I went with a more edgy look, by pairing simple pieces together to create an outfit great for wearing both day and night time. I added a statement necklace in the mix as an unexpected touch and to also give the overall look a little oomph against the light grey of the knit sweater. I always get the best jewelry back home in Jamaica, the necklace I'm wearing I got about a year or two ago when I was extremely obessessed with statement necklaces....I'm happy I finally decided to start wearing a lot of my necklaces again. Anyways, I'm off to a long day of work and classes...have a great day!

Hazey

Just sharing a quick post of this look I wore a couple weeks ago. I was coming from a long day of classes and the walk to my apartment from school is was cold but somehow very sunny. I was dressed very casual in a bright blue jumper and dark pants with my coltrane boots. This is pretty much the way I dress on a lazy day, especially whenever I have morning classes. I have so much to get done today so, I'm off! Enjoy your day

Clean White Noise

Snowy days in New York.

Sweater- Zara
Coat- H&M
Boots- H&M

Whenever it snows, I like to dress very comfortable and casual with flat boots to stomp around the snow in. I wore a sheer blouse layered under a cute off white sweater with my metallic green pants that I don't wear quiet often but something possessed me to incorporate it in this look. For extra warmth, I wore my oversized coat with a big chunky scarf which gave me extra comfort for this snowy day. I have my ups and downs about the snow...I think it's really beautiful especially the way the photographs but other times I hate it and just wish it was bright and sunny. Anyways, this week has been kind of hectic for me between finishing up my finals and running around doing last minute Christmas shopping. I'll be sure to shoot as much cold weather look I can before going to Jamaica. Thanks for visiting.

Half-Past The Moonlight

Sweater Dress- H&M
Eyelet Cardigan- Forever 21
Faux Leather Jacket- Similar
Charcoal Panama Hat- Sole Society
Shoes- Miista (Solestruck)

I've always wanted to get a sweater that was long enough to be wore as a dress but never quite got around to finding one that wasn't too body hugging or long enough. Thankfully, H&M just opened up a flagship store in Time Square and they were having this massive sale  so I picked up a bunch of cozy sweaters that could each be wore for different occasions. I specifically love this red wine colored one because its  at a great length (little about the knee) and it's one of those sweaters that can easily be dressed up or down with the help of slight tweaking. I ended up having to wear  shorts underneath the sweater because it was a bit cold so, that sort of explains why it's a little puffy around the upper leg in this post. I also wore my eyelet cardigan to give a more casual feel to the outfit and with my biker jacket I was able to give a lot more depth to the overall look. Sweaters have literally become an essential part of my wardrobe lately because, it's cold in New York that the only thing I can wear without freezing is a nice chunky sweater. I honestly can't wait for Christmas to get here so that I can go back to Jamaica in the warmth haha.

Two Sided Mirror

Jacket- Ann Taylor
Faux Leather Asymmetric Skirt-Romwe
Sweater- Zara

Nothing like a mini faux leather skirt. I wore this outfit around the beginning of November when it wasn't as cold as it is now. I'm honestly not quite a fan of the asymmetric skirt trend and I literally cringe at the site of the Zara versions that almost everyone and their grandmother owns....lol However, I somehow got drawn to this one from Romwe and decided to actually give it a try. Unfortunately, I overestimated the sizing so it was wayy to big for me, so I solved the problem by just wearing a belt to keep it in place. I wore it with a lightweight sweater tucked into the skirt and my favourite plaid blazer. Of course, I had to fit my hat somewhere in there because hats have literally become to go to when it comes to figuring out what to do with my hair.
